Krista no, she’s usually solid black, and the first bloom was solid. She’s just doing that color break thing that a lot of black dahlias do when it starts getting chilly.

Oh I didn’t know this about black dahlias - I’m just this year exploring both white and very dark varieties so this is great to know. I really like the color break - it’s so formal and dramatic with the dark-on-dark effect.

Krista How fun! Apopa Cindy is adorable. I only got blooms on CV Peachy recently, even though I planted it back in early May. I had thought it was an early variety, but not for me.

Verdict on the > Krista Clearview Peachy from the supplier:

“Your photo is Clearview Peachy.
Clearview Peachy's colors shift throughout the season.
Some blooms start out with heavier pink/yellow and fades to a more even warm pink/peach tone.”

I’m not sure this one will make it into next years lineup, regardless - the jury’s still out. So far, both blooms I’ve seen look like this.

JessieC Oh this makes me feel so much better about these late blooms, happy to hear some may just be late-bloomers by nature! CV Peachy has been really sweet to see, late in the season with her soft springy colors. I was lacking last year in the deep reds and oranges for this time of year and now I’ve grown so many I’m happy see these lighter colors! Apopa Cindy arrived by accident in an order flub but I planted her anyway. She’s the only collerette I’ve ever grown and I like her more than I thought I would. If you’d like a tuber for next spring, let me know!

JessieC I planted mid May and my first Clearview Peachy bloom was 8/18. Maybe next season it will bloom early for you!

JessieC Adding to Missy’s timeline, I planted my CV Peachy at the end of May and it first bloomed 9/8.

Krista CV Peachy is a bit late for me too. Love the pink on yours! My Seabeck’s Hilda is usually an early bloomer, and prolific. Such a great bloom!

Krista I would love a tuber! Hopefully I will have plenty to share next year too.
And for reference, here’s a pic showing two CV Peachy blooms. It’s a very nice, even tone. The flowers are 3.5” and somewhat lollipop shaped. The closest thing I had was Parkland Tribute, which is a more vibrant peach pink. I like PT’s blooms, but the plant has been a twisty mess two years running. Off to the compost 😬

calico20hill Well after looking at online photos, mine doesn’t even look a little like other’s Clearview Peachy? I wonder who the heck I’m growing. I’m using an iPhone, no filters on my flower photos - looks like the supplier’s website is hidden for updates right now and this variety isn’t featured in their IG. 🥴 Guess I’ll send a email and see if they can identify it from this photo.
