Teddahlia that's a beautiful grouping of flowers. I see the tomatoes near the flowers... Have you ever seen the ethylene gas the ripening tomatoes produce cause the flowers to wilt prematurely?

We have many hundreds of flowers this time of the year and if these wilt in a day or two I can always get more. I like to eat the tomatoes with salt and mayonnaise. Some animal was eating the tomatoes and left half eaten tomatoes in the dirt between the rows. The plants are half height as something(deer?) have been dining on tomato leaves. The rabbit has eaten all my swiss chard but he took a month to do it.

Digging, washing and storing dahlia tubers in Michigan is a challenge. We have HUMID weather in the winter and you have extremely dry air in the winter. I can leave tubers uncovered in a pile on a table in the garage and they will not freeze or dry out. They would die very quickly there.

Yes. Temperature is much easier to regulate than humidity.

My favorite bucket from yesterday's wholesale harvest. You can see just how dark Czarny Charkater is when it's next to a mix that includes Rivers Rosebud and Ferncliff Ebony.

Honnat wow it really is dark-dark black almost. Do you find that it actually works well in a vase? I’m trying to decide if it’s more of an anomaly or actually a play-easy bloom?

I grew it one year and was not sold on it as a cut flower but that was over 5 years ago and I do not remember the details. It may have been a not so good plant or that it came on too late in my garden. It looks like it grew really well for Honnat.

edewitt here's what the Beaucon White I have from Tall-grass Farms looks like. I think I ordered a Beaucon White and also got one as a free bonus. One of the tubers didn't make it.

Krista My sweet peas will have striped patterns like this sometimes, it is color breaking due to a sweet pea mosaic virus. I hope that yours is a sport and not a virus because it is quite beautiful!

That is a very novel pattern of color. Never seen it before. To call it variegated or bicolor is an understatement.

Krista Neato! Are all 3 blooms coming from the same branch or is the whole plant sporting these?

Krista wow so so awesome. Since u have so many shoots from the original tuber, flag the 2 stalks that has the sports. Perhaps u might get a tuber of it with that coloration when u divide.
