Lame stories from Oregon City:
Many years ago, my wife was on judging team doing the BB sized flowers and I finished judging my assignments about an hour before her. Her team argued back and forth for 15 minutes as to the best BB and selected April Dawn. I asked the April Dawn breeder, Les Connell how April Dawn was doing and he said his grandchild was doing fine in school.
The late Bill Mishler bred Woodland's Wild Thing and could not get any seeds from it. Phil Mingus, his good friend and hunting fishing partner, did get seeds and the result was the flower named Dr. John Kaiser named after his wife's doctor. It is slightly smaller and has 90% of the color and is easier to grow. Bill Mishler of course was glad that someone got a seedling from his favorite flower, the one that is pictured on his head stone.
