Teddahlia I am growing Hollyhill Regal for the first time. Capturing the intense saturated purple color wasn't happening in my Pixel 6 pro phone photos. In the collage below, the lower right photo is unedited for color, and has a warm tint. The other two photos I tried to modify the coloring to get a better representation of the intense beautiful coloring. Still, the modified coloring doesn't reflect what the eye sees.

Emilyp Do you know the parents? It reminds me of Bloomquist Blush in another form. Pretty colors!

AndreaB I didn't take good notes, not sure who the seed comes from. Goals for this year include better record keeping! Thank you, I am really enjoying the color combo too.

My picture of Hollyhill Regal taken in 2011 with a Pentax SLR camera. The only adjustment was that the picture was a bit too dark and was adjusted.

I wonder if the flower you have is HH Regal as it looks quite a bit different.

Teddahlia the picture of Holyhill Regal was the first bloom. I'm seeing dramatic differences in the flowers of the same varieties grown in the different micro climates within my yard. Also the very first blooms of varieties seem to be a bit unique. I'll post some subsequent blooms for you to evaluate.

AndreaB how tall are the varieties... is there a height difference between Hollyhill Regal vs. Hollyhill Berry Purple?

Berry Purple is a normal 4 feet tall and a productive cut flower . Regal has reputation for growing 6 feet tall and and is not a real prolific cut flower. I question some of the pictures of Regal as mine looks different.

Teddahlia I know we're in the wrong thread for this discussion... The HH Regal I have is at least as tall as me, 5'2'. I didn't pinch it, so it's one tall stock, with 3 beautiful, fully closed flowers. By the way, the photo collage, as seen below, is an app built in to my Pixel Pro 6 phone.

My HH Berry Purples were 5+ feet grown in full sun and 7+ feet when grown under 30-40% shade cloth. It was the tallest variety I grew last year. The growth habit was very good (upright) so did not require extra staking.

Teddahlia I like this one a lot more than Chilson's Pride! I love how well the tubers store for Chilson's Pride though! Hopefully it is a great tuber maker for you too. Beautiful!

Teddahlia!!! This is my number one favorite from yesterday! And it was deep in the seedling patch - I took a photo of it from as close as I could but it was still a couple rows away and not great quality. I’m so glad to see your close up, it just glowed!

Nice color, it looks similar to HH Tiger Rose's color. Are those outer florets fused except for the ends? Interesting form!
