  • Dahlia Seedling Pictures - 2023

THanks, Krista! It does seem like I am getting more usable ones wiith better form. Apparently Salish Twilight Girl and Salish Lullabye make good seedlings! I am finding some I like in the Berries AU Lait seedlings too. and hope for many more new ones still to open!

Nice color. Ted! Isn't it fun to have seedlings to share again! Its been a bit hot for working in the garden but well, I guess that is July for you!

    Juliarugula

I just noticed it today. I will have to check which seedling parent it came from. THese are all about 3rd generation from my Salish Dahlias that are out in public now. I think it might be one from Salish My David. That was a red and gold stripes on white dahlia, (or "All the Fire Colors" as my Dave called it.

YES, THIS COMES FROM THE "Salish My David" line, It is most likely a miniature and that one had gone open cerner today but we are in heat wave (for here) of 80's-90's temperatures.I love the tiny Gold dots on the end of each petal and hope we can get a good line of cut flower dahlias from it. It makes me ache to try making an arrangement with them, but its too darned hot to warnder the garden today. Maybe on the next round of blooms. Also, I have a lot more of this seed cross to bloom so I will keep a close eye on it.

The color in the garden doesn't translate to the picture --- it's an electric hot pink with deep yellow. Too bad it has a low petal count and poor center .

Seedling 71922: The color pattern appears to be that the flower is a solid golden yellow and then it has vibrant pink tips on the florets. Almost a bicolor but the pink pigment is too streaky. It is not a flame dahlia as pink is not a flame color. So, the color is a dark blend of dark pink and yellow. It is is a pleasing color pattern.

2023 seedling. Margaret says it deserves a ticket to be 2024 seedling. From 15 feet it looks OK. Perhaps I will give it the number 23-01 and no "01" seedling has ever made it to the third year. Cell phone picture came out pretty well.

Teddahlia Pink flower on a 6 foot tall plant.

Nice! What size is the bloom?

4 inches is the standard "I forgot to say what size" . It is a seedling of HH Wedding day and has some of the traits of that unusual flower and for example is 6 feet tall and still growing. I am watching this one and Margaret likes it so far. It is a nice one so far but our hearts have been broken so many times over the years.

A late bloomer, 3" flower. Seed parent is Alloway Candy.

23039 23029 hasn't stopped blooming. Sets big seed, has lots of pollen. Flower is about 4-5", plant is on the shorter side at about 40". Closed center.

23061 the white waterlily from seed parent Hollyhill Creamy looks good with no spray for insects, no disbudding. It's been in the high 80's and into the 90's this last week. So far it hasn't set any seed.

Solitary flower on 23021, with ruffles petals and a lovely pale lavender color. Held a tight center. I dug in the center to see what it looked like.

Some dahlias have very small pollen centers and set very few if any seeds.

This Gold Seedling continues to pour out flowers. It's tag says it was a 2021 seedlings so I must have grown it form 2021 seeds this winter. I grew a lot of older seeds where I had just a few of each in an envelope. I think in 2021 I had BLoomquist Pumpkin i my patch. I think this one will be a keeper for me.
