Hello! I’m hoping for help finding out if/how keyword searches are possible while accessing the forum via mobile device? I’m not seeing the “Search Forum” field that appears in the green menu bar along the top of the screen when I’m logged in using a desktop computer. (Mobile device is iOS)

Krista click on the header that lists "All Discussions". On the left side, you'll see 3 small lines, which you can click into. "Search Forum" is in that menu.

Hello, this isn’t urgent, just wanted to find out if there’s a way to self-serve edits to the information shared in our profiles? My climate zone and locale will change for this year’s growing season and I am hoping to keep my info up to date. 🌱

On my computer I am able to modify my profile.
Or, In the upper right hand of the chrome browser on a smartphone choose "desktop site" from the menu.

Instructions go something like this:
Click on your name in the upper right hand header.
Click on "profile" on the page.
Click on the "edit".

Krista if your browser has a "desktop site" setting available (chrome does), you can access the profile once you are in that mode. You would click the upper right hand browser menu that has the vertical "...". On an iPhone, the chrome "..." Menu is on the bottom right. I opened up this forum on safari. In the upper left hand menu, if you click on your name, and then click on the profile twice, you will get an edit option.

I feel better now. I was looking on mobile because I think most people use that.

blown_dry from my experience, the mobile supports editing on your android or iPhone, it's just that you have to go through a few hoops to get where you want to go. It can sometimes be a pain to get to a computer, so finding the tricks is worthwhile.

Does anyone have ideas on how to better search on this forum using the search box? I go looking for a past post, and can't find it.
Latest search was for "tiny tubers". I made a post a few months ago discussing the tiny tubers that grew from 2024 cuttings that overwintered in the ground.

Bessie I use Google to search the site, so to search for "Bessie" and "tiny tubers" I would use the syntax:
site: https://forum.dahliaaddict.com Bessie +"tiny tubers"
(I think the + sign forces the term to be included). But, for this to work you have to make sure you used the term "tiny tuber" in your post and not "little tuber" or "very small tuber". 🙂

SteveM Thank you! I didn't think of using Google. I'm very familiar with using Google to search. If I had to guess, I would say the Private threads on this forum are not available to Google. It would not surprise me if the back engine of this forum uses Google. I did the search and did not find what I was looking for.

MIDahlias thanks, but I am looking for a post that I made, or at least I'm pretty sure I made.
I posted pictures of 1" tubers that were made from summer cuttings.

The forum is acting a bit weird. Double posting posts, etc. I don't know why, but we are aware of it! I've been cleaning up duplicate posts where I find them.

blown_dry when I was on vacation(and at home) and had spotty internet, I found that I didn't always get a completion response from my posts. Through trial and error, I realized that the posts were successful, but just the completion message didn't get back to me, or didn't get sent in a timely manner. Instead of re-posting the same material, I checked the forum from a different tab, and found the post(s) was(were) successful. I might guess that the upload was taking longer than the forum expected, and thus the user gets "unexpected error that something went wrong". Thoughts that come to mind is the server is not responding in the expected time allotted for the platform or the message is getting lost in the bad internet connection.

I'd like to add that for a few months I've not been getting alerts of user posts. The software tester in me is going crazy with ideas of possible causes and remedies 🤓 from things I've come across before. Maybe just a server restart would be the first thing to try to "clean up" any hung processes. If that doesn't work, tweak (increase) timeout settings for database access.

blown_dry Guess we'll see if this reply works... Also tagging Bessie and Juliarugula to see if that's working.

I ran the OS and application updates and, yes, restarted the server. The server had been running for 99 days.

There is a major OS version update available but there will need to a little more preparation put into doing that.

Also, cleared the forum's application cache.

If there are still problems, I'll look at updates to the forum software itself.
