Yes, the DahliaAddict upgrade was a little more extensive. The forum was already on PHP 8, so it was pretty much just "flip a switch" and do some quick testing.

The main driver for DA was to get the framework updated from Laravel 8 to 10, which required the update from PHP 7.4 to at least 8.1 and some changes to the DA code because of breaking changes in both PHP's and Laravel's major version number releases.

Added some handling to force non-secure (HTTP) page requests to use the secure (HTTPS) protocol instead.

Turns out, if you try to access forum pages insecurely, things mostly work OK but you won't be logged in and won't be able to do so because the forum interprets the attempt as a cross site scripting attack and throws an error. 🙃

Updated the forum software from v1.7.3 to v1.8.1. It went smoothly, the forum was only down in maintenance mode for about five minutes to back everything up and install updates for the forum core and all the extensions.

Even though it's a point release, it's mostly a cleanup release with some minor bug fixes in preparation for moving the in development v2 to "stable" status.

The most relevant for you all is some performance improvements in submitting a post.

There were only a few minor new features added and those were on the admin side.

In case anyone is curious, your images amount to 292MB after resizing and compressing for storage/presentation. The the forum's database, including all of your posts, is 5.8MB in uncompressed, plain text SQL.

Test was successful. I noticed a few of @Cosey posts didn't show the image in the post, however there was a link that showed the image in a new window.
I removed the text as shown below from the insert photo action.
"[upl-image-preview"

Bessie I fixed the post so all the images should be showing now.

I had this happen to me recently. What happens is that if you start typing while it's in the process of downloading the image and creating the link, the typed text appears in the middle of the code, literally breaking it. The browser perceives the code bits as text and makes it all visible. I pieced the code bits back together on @Cosey 's post.

Edited to add: I can't seem to replicate the issue on purpose so maybe there is more to it. For the image link you can also remove the "url=" and the closing square bracket at the end. To get the URL for any image, right click on it and select "Copy image address".

blown_dry Thanks for fixing the images. If it's helpful, I loaded all the images first then returned to the text, clicked the end of the URL to add a return before typing a description. It worked fine on the first and last image the the middle ones were published as links. I didn't have time to problem solve when I realized there could be an issue and when I returned later in the evening I saw it was viewing properly. I figured it worked itself out. Haha. I guess the woman behind the curtain worked it out for me.

Upgraded the forum from version 1.8.1 to 1.8.5 and PHP from 8.2.15 to 8.3.2.

There weren't any issues with the process and everything seems to be good. Since the forum update was so minor, I just ran a backup of the database and upgraded it "hot", without putting it in maintenance mode. (Don't tell @blown_dry . 🤫 I'm always giving her a hard time about being sure to run changes to DA through the staging server before going live with them.)
