Light influence on stem and flower anthocyanin production

I especially found it interesting that the antho expression in dahlia blooms was dependent on a relatively short number of days of light exposure while the bud was in the mature stage. There is a lot of room for further experimentation beyond this interesting Stanford Lab exercise.

Teddahlia

Some varieties take intense sunlight during bud formation to have a red flower. Hollyhill Fireball can be completely red in the long days of late spring and early summer. In October it is a completely yellow flower . In between, it is a flame dahlia for awhile. Very disappointing as it has superb form.

Teddahlia It's always October here so I just have to wait and see if a new variety will look like the pics in my garden. Candlelight is one of those. Eva Luna too, I think.
