Raised beds are great for many reasons and where torrential rain is problem, they drain well while plants in the ground often drown. Walt Jacenko who recently died, grew up in Brazil where he could not grow plants in the ground and only in raised beds. And he had to replenish the soil weekly or the heat would remove all nutrients from the soil. He used lots things like good compost . He told me that he continued to do this in his gardens in Washington State. One of his favorite weekly additions to the dahlias was coffee grounds that he rescued from a Starbucks coffee shop. Not too much but about a half an inch in the entire bed. His show flowers were excellent and he commercially sold premium dahlia flowers to "Event" florists(mostly weddings) They wanted his show flowers and lots more. Welcome to this site where people are friendly and post lots of pictures.
Seedling waterlily that I like but Margaret does not like the little bit of red on the reverse of the petals.
