Anyone potentially have a lead on either Kenora Ontario or Tioga Seahawk?

Kenora Ontarioi was in my garden in 1992 . The Tioga seedlings were not wel ditributed when they came out.

The last one was bred by Jack Adams and released in 2005. The rest have Madeline Giesert as the breeder but it was a joint effort until they broke up.

Suitzu Jule is spelled quite differently. Suitzus Julie is the micro waterlily that is a classic unicorn dahlia.

I'm looking for Narrows Tricia and Holly Huston, just because I like them and lost them. Another one lost long ago was Ken Greenway's Alena Rose, which I adored. Jane is another, beautiful incurved cactus and a rare color of pink /magenta.

They've become hard to impossible to find. Also, has anyone grown the old dahlia called Lemonade, I believe from 1946? Did they like it? I love yellows that are soft yet vibrant and on the green side of lemony yellow. Recommendations welcome as I love yellow dahlias.

Dahlia53 The name certainly didn't indicate that to me, but MM Buttercream was the most greenish yellow I've seen in person.

There are reasons old varieties do not survive. It is a shame the ADS does not do "long term storage" and release stock of old timers periodically. How: freezing prepared plant material in liquid nitrogen. Sounds easy. My liquid nitrogen freezer is getting full. Liar, Liar. My only experience with liquid nitrogen is when my doctor froze a wicked looking wart on my scalp.

Teddahlia Maybe? I love the coloring. It reminds me of Darcy, in the way I feel Darcy should glow in the dark, I think this bloom should too.

I’m In search of a Bracken Glenda tuber or two. I seen there’s two farms with it listed on dahlia addict ( for tubers) so I’ll try for one then but if anyone had one to buy directly I’d be more than happy to skip the online sales and buy it directly from you. 😀 hoping to use it In dahlia hybridization.

BackyardBouquets_17 If you can't find it, honestly I think Bracken Sarah is a good substitute for hybridizing. Bracken Glenda is just a bit bigger and more orange than B. Sarah, but otherwise, they're pretty similar.

bfrye the last record I have found of it in the US is a picture in 2022 posted by someone from Warren County, Kentucky who had the user name FPF on the National Gardening Association plant data base. Unfortunately they haven’t been active since 2023. The last retailer to sell it was Mowhawk Dahlias in 2019 before disappearing and Parks Dahlias had it around that time too but I cannot find a way to contact them. They only other two places I know for sure there is potential for it to be are in Poland and the UK. But I haven’t found anyone with any knowledge on that recently.

Fidalgo Splash was very popular in the 1990s and we grew it. That does not help you now but perhaps saying it was very nice and it is worth chasing down will help.

nearly 80 Bracken varieties.

That’s great to know. I thought on pics they look very similar but it’s hard to tell if you don’t see it in real life. I do have Bracken Sarah IF my tiny tuber it gave me last yr survives. With a tiny baby in the house I didn’t have time to go through them this winter yet like I normally do. I have no idea where I came across the info I just have wrote down that Bracken Glenda is a reliable seed producer for fully double decoratives is what started me on the bunny trail looking for that one.
