Apricot Desire - from Eden Nursery
New to me this year. The apricot color is very similar to the outer petals of Hollyhill Serenity. The flower is about 3" and looks like it has great stems for cutting.

Clearview Jonas is such a strong grower... First bloom is almost 8" across.

@Teddahlia do you happen to have a picture of Hollyhill Cheers, Hollyhill Golden Glow and Hollyhill Honeygold all together for comparison? Asking here instead of PMing you because I'm sure others would enjoy seeing them too. I have a bud on Hollyhill Golden Glow that just now is showing color and I'm getting really excited!

Hollyhill Cheers, Hollyhill Golden Glow and Hollyhill Honeygold
They all were released in different years and one takes lots of pictures the year it is introduced.
Cheers is an enigma as the original pictures did not look like it in our garden recently and so Margaret culled most all of it but a couple plants. We will see what they look like this year and I did save some of the "wrong one".
Honeygold was next and it looks like the picture from the ADS picture contest that won best picture(not my picture). Golden Glow is slightly smaller than Honeygold and is similar in color but has lots of red on the reverse of the petals.
Cheers was sold as "just a nice flower" but the others two have lots of show potential and Honeygold has won best waterlily in show.
In old pictures Cheers cupped more than the other two but had less bright colors.

Really enjoying the color of dahlia moonstruck from Swan Island. I find it really does seem to “play well” with most other flowers color wise. Much less yellow than what I was expecting. It is an early bloomer (which I have been gravitating towards early varieties lately since I am not so patient)

The first 2025 first year seedling is blooming. Almost 8", and a tad bug eaten. Wonderful robust bushy plant and foliage. Seed Parent is seedling 24308( it's parent was Bahama Mama)

Apricot Desire has not disappointed me. I like the red lantana as the backdrop to this lovely bloom.

Happy Fourth of July!

Fireworks with a few bug bites - "SB's Star" is a very nice orchid and will be a big winner at shows (if growers are able to overwinter tubers).

Orchid class in the 1990s had only a few varieties and was dominated by Honka . They old ones are no longer seen much and the new orchids starting with Midnight Star and then many more of superb quality have gotten better and better. We have never grown an orchid and have no plans to ever do so.

One of the first blooms of the year for me is Hollyhill Peachy Keen. I’m so happy to have it back in my garden again after losing it!

SteveM, yes it is a lovely color and form. Would you want the bloom to be any larger for your commercial cut flower sales? I'm growing 20th Ave Memory this year and think it might cross with 24312, my white seedling that last year was a robust grower, bloomed continuously, and set lots of seed.

@Bessie The size of 20th Ave Memory is fine for commercial sales, the first bloom was a Ball size. The thing I will have to check is the stem length and early (May-ish) fully double blooms. I am growing one plant in a container and she seems to be on the compact side. The color is so good I will probably trial about 30 plants under shade next year to evaluate the commercial potential for my area. If is works out timewise I might hand cross with Clearview Peachy which has perfect plant growth habit. (but blooms with weak early centers). It would also be great to have it on your 23049 seedling which has great, strong stems even under shade. (might take several generations to get that creation since the form is so different.)

SteveM Have you grown Fifi? It's a MB similar in color to 20th Ave Memory. Maybe a little more lavender. It's taller and is very productive for me. If you want to try it, I'd be happy to trade you this fall!

Molly Raven: This is my first year growing it. The tubers were super healthy and vigorous, and the cuttings root easily. The foliage is a nice deep burgundy color. The first blooms, each from different plants are disappointing in their form, with a center that is hard with lots of petals that aren't freely opening(at this point).

Bessie 24914 blooms are now pale, just what it looked like last year. I didn't get one seed from it last year, so it's pollen will be used to spread the genetics.
