Hello! My name is Amelia, I live in Maine (coastal). I'm a lifelong gardener but never grew dahlias until last year when I decided to grow them for my October 2025 wedding. I'm obsessed (no surprise, really...) Last year I ran out of space at home and grew several rows at a friend's house and a long row at work too (it's a bakery, but there's a garden. 💕) I'm adding beds for approximately 250 more plants at home this year, and growing several rows at the farm where the wedding is taking place. My old-house-basement-stored tubers are looking great and I couldn't resist new tubers too. I have a cutting bed working in my living room and I'm starting some seeds this week. (I can't plant out until at least mid-May.) My wedding flowers will be the last harvest of the year in mid-October. I'm planning on selling the rest of the season's blooms to support World Central Kitchen and health equity organizations.
My job is often loud and chaotic...after work I head straight to the dahlias. Thanks for "listening," I'm glad to be in good company!
