I do label the seed parent now but so far have used only bee crossed ones. And I carefully label them, like "pocket seeds", (those found in a jeans pocket before throwing it in the laundry). You literally never know what you will find in those seeds!

In the naming of dahlias, the ultimate compliment is naming a variety after your spouse. Barbara B. is Paul Bloomquist's attempt to retain marital bliss. There is no Hollyhill Margaret or Hollyhill Theodore. Hollyhill Margarita was Margaret's choice of a name for her favorite flower that year.

This reminds me of Roger Paraon’s ‘Alison Louise’ and David Austin’s ‘Pat Austin’ - not to mention there are a number of dahlias with the name Ted 😉

There has never been a dahlia as pretty as Margaret or as ugly as me. 😘 It may happen and I do not select names and only give suggestions to the dahlia name boss, Margaret. She would not name one "dingleberry" and considers many or most of my suggestions as frivolous.

Teddahlia LOL. “Dingleberry” makes the child in me chuckle. It’s a funny word and I seem to recall my grandparents using it. 😆

HH Wedding Day was so tall and beautiful in my garden, I should plant it dead center and run festive ribbons out to the 4 corners from it!!. It is one of the ones left to be dug and I sure hope it made tubers!

I'd happily buy or trade with you... a tuber or unrooted cuttings of Hollyhill Wedding Day.

Anyone interested in tuber(s)of Solo(from Swan Island Dahlias)? I'd keep it around for a cutting garden plant, however I'm into hybridizing for cut flowers, and it's a bit of a bobble head, which is not a feature I want in the gene pool.
