I was researching Van Isle Rosy Maple (I think the supplier I added it for ended up pulling from their catalog, it's not live) and there are other Van Isle varieties. Here's some in the catalog of a Canada-only supplier that carries them:

Lily's Garden says she is growing Van Isle varieties for release for 2026 and she ships to the US.
I especially want Van Isle Dark Night.

But there are also some very nice FDs in tasteful colors that people will probably like. 🙂

blown_dry Oh are the Van Isle bred by Trevor Hoff? From the dahlia breeding fb group? I had no idea he had so many, if so. I remember when he was giving them away to some Canadian sellers to get them out there because he had specific ideas of what he wanted to keep for hybridizing reasons only and wasn’t interested in the introducing part. I remember one amazing one of his I loved so much. I’ll have to see if I can find it. Maybe it’s been named now.

Trevor Hoff is a premier photographer and won best ADS photo one year. As with all breeders , he had many seedlings he only sort of liked and in reality would be very popular. We have that problem here too and when something that we just sort of like gets lots of compliments, it makes a difference as to whether it gets kept.
