Everygreen State /Grays Harbor Dahlia Associations’ public sale just started, looks like Hollyhill Serenity was one of the first to go!

Well I had 3 tuber orders arrive along with my order of ducklings. Now that makes it a banner day! 6 little spotted fuzzy ducklings arrived in good condition from Cackle Hatchery in Missouri. They may not be the mix of colors I wanted but at this point I will take the splashes of black on white. It does look like one duckling might have lighter colors and that would be lovely. So we ran up to the post office this morning and picked up a box of little peepers...I ordered 2 males and 3 females with the hope of ending up with 3 females and one or two good males.

The tuber boxes were from Birch Bay, and Delightful Dahlias(2 boxes). Time for a cuppa! I've been potting up tubers for most of the afternoon .

I did put some of the garden veggies on the outside shelves to make room in the greenhouse. I'll watch the thermometer tonight. I also potted up a lot of dahlia tubers from my home grown supply so I have a feeling I have a crazy number of them going here! I think I have reused just about every small pot on the place and am still waiting for my new order of pots.

calico20hill Aw I’m so happy to hear you were able to find anconas, I’ve heard all good things about Cackle! I sheepishly (on behalf of my poor mate) collected a number of boxes from our front step this morning and the hard part is, there’s a million more on the way. My Garden Bee pack delivered beautiful tubers with gorgeous sprouts! I also found JS, Chelan and Honken today, what a delight!

Isn't it just the best to have boxes full of "potential" arriving! Especially right now when it seems like winter is NEVER going to end, those new tubers fill me with hope and excitement!

I got my Ferncliff order today, which was of course exciting. This was my first year ordering from them and I was blown away by how generous their divisions were. In addition to two bonus tubers, about 75% of my order came in the form of dividable (at least) double tubers. Hollyhill Serenity came as a whopping 4 tuber clump!

I just got home from a whirlwind trip of the Pacific Northwest. Got to visit with a lot of my favorite dahlia people (like Noni😀), see family, and bring home quite the tuber haul. Had 11 boxes waiting for me at the post office too. It's Dahlia Christmas!

I'm in Virginia and I've only received two orders so far--Chelan Butte came a couple of weeks ago and they were beautiful. And I got a lovely package from Coseytown last week. Thank you @Cosey 😊
Still waiting on Broad River, Bonny, Garden Bee, Delightful Dahlias, and Mayberry. It was hot this week and will be hot again next week, so it's nice to have a cool weekend to go through orders and think about where all these tubers are going to fit 😳

Krista Excellent news! I did hear from Paula at Garden Bee that she's shipping to VA next week, and I just got a notice from Mayberry, which is also in VA. They've shipped! I imagine an Easter basket filled with egg-shaped tubers 🤣

KitCMC do you have a picture of your Rivers bonus? I’ve been enjoying seeing the pictures of next years releases that people are getting as bonuses. My box is supposed to get here Monday!

Juliarugula actually, shortly after I placed my order I emailed and asked if I could add Wyn’s Sleepyhead as I hadn’t originally seen it and that I adore Wynne’s varieties. I was generously offered it as a bonus. I said thank you, but that supporting a small breeder/grower is something I am happy to do. I went ahead and placed an additional order. Guess what my bonus was? Wyn’s Delta Frank!! I cannot get over how thoughtful and generous that was. I’ve never grown it either - so exciting. I’m a customer for life!
I did order a WB’s Peachy (new release for this year) and will post pics as soon as she blooms.

I got my River's and Sly Hill orders today! My Delightful and Del's are supposed to be here Monday. 🥳
My River's bonus was River's Alex. Pic from their website. Another friend got the same one. Yellow is my least favorite color but bonus tubers are awesome and maybe I will love it anyway.

MissyWeitzel River's Alex was my gift tuber last year. The yellow doesn't scream at you and the form is quite nice. I kept the tubers and will be replanting this year. I'll be interested in what your tubers look like at the end of year - mine all have huge deep/thick barnacle looking surfaces. I wrote to Eugene to inquire and he said he knew exactly what I was talking about and would replace them if I wanted. I'd just not seen this before. They are all putting out eyes easily.

I got a big stack of boxes today! The contents of one gave me the vapors. I reached into the vermiculite and pulled out a tuber that was just that. I stared at the cut end where the neck should be. It had not broken off in shipping the cut was old. What sort of fiend sends a decapitated tuber! Finally, I looked it over more closely. I had been staring at the wrong end. It was one of those that doesn't really have a neck per se, just a little bump of crown on the other end with a nice sprout coming off. 😊

Portland Dahlia Society tuber sale and auction tomorrow at 6 PM. In person and members only. We will see how this goes.

I suspect there will be a large influx of new members. I know my neighbor joined but I hope we can entice her to the meetings as well.

I am hoping I can find some Hollyhill varieties to add to my stash.

I didn't find a way to get my extra tubers donated but maybe I can leave them with someone for the online sales? Not a huge pile of extras but ones I would be glad to share.

I have some of my old neighbors who want to start an "Island Grown" project working with Island florists. and have asked for stock of the ones I bred while living there. I think it is a wonderful project and have been preparing to make a trip up when the weather gets more pleasant, and help these folks get set up with my tubers that were "hatched" on the Island. So that is why I don't have a large supply of Salish Dahlias to donate to the Portland Dahlia Society sale, Maybe next year.

Were the "barnicles" you refer to swollen lenticels? I get those on tubers where my water system is leaving the ground too wet. Sometimes at the end of a row there will be a little leakage.
