This will be my third year volunteering for our sale, and Last year I helped organize the sale for the Michigan Dahlia Society, we had a ton of compliments.
Our members bag and label their own varieties, and we keep a spreadsheet of what is expected and approx. how many.

We set up along a sidewalk, one side was all tubers, the other side was all cuttings.
The tubers were placed in Cube cardboard boxes, 7X7X7, we printed the photo of the cultivar, put it on a piece of white paper that had the ADS classification info on it, and then taped all of that to the front of the cardboard box.

For varieties that maybe only had one or two tubers donated, we just wrote the ADS classification info on the baggie.

All tubers are $5 and cuttings are $7, with the exception of some newer KA varieties that we sell for $15

There are usually minimal leftovers that we let the volunteers have.

Here in western Wa the sales are so early - too early for me . I love the later sales and just got some nice varieties at Kitsap's online tuber sale. I live on an island and have a sick older animal so it's hard to get off. I so appreciate the online dahlia society sales!

I was happy to buy from Portland DS in the recent online public open on Saturday.

I got Normandy Memories, which I believe is actually Normandie Memories (?), JJ's Christina (a white dec I don't have a lot of info on), Manor Jubilee, and Hollyhill Flamingo. I don't know where I'm putting any of them.

Hollyhill Flamingo was entered by us into the trial garden in France and won some sort of prize. We no longer grow it as the tubers are below average(but not hopeless) and it never made any seeds. When shaded , it is as bright a flower as any in your garden.

Love to read the comments here but rarely post anything. Here is an update from New England Dahlia Society tuber sale. We have one tuber sale each year at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill in Boylston, MA, located roughly 50 miles West of downtown Boston, MA. Our annual dahlia show is held at the same place. The income from the tuber sale covers the expenses for our annual show.
This year, the sale was held on April 21. All our tubers were locally grown, either by our members or at two farms in the area. Tubers were sold for $7 each, with a few large or desirable varieties priced at $10 each. The $7 tubers are sold "naked," but each tuber has its full name written on it with a Sharpie. Members donating tubers are asked to label their tubers and check for eyes before bringing them to the sale.
We use small baskets with a picture and/or a brief description of the variety clipped to the basket to display the tubers. We also had to improvise using paper plates since we didn't have enough baskets this year. We had 250+ different varieties for sale and set them up alphabetically by variety name. While this layout might frustrate some buyers who are looking for specific colors like shades of pink or only want waterlilies, it’s the fastest way we can organize the room since we only have 2.5 hours before our sale opens. To help out, our volunteers have a (partial) list with descriptions of the varieties and some time to shop and get oriented before we open for the public.
This year, we also sold about 100 plants for $13 each. All plants were grown by only one member from pot tubers or single tubers. The plants were strong and beautiful and admired by everyone.
Our sale goes from 11 am to 3 pm, and we usually have a long line of people waiting in front of the doors before we open. Each customer gets one or two new 1-gallon Ziploc bag(s) to use for shopping and a sheet with tuber storage and growing instructions. We encourage everyone to add a handful of free wood shavings to their purchases in their plastic bags on their way out. This year's sale was very popular, and we sold more than 80% of our tubers (estimated). We’ll plant most of the leftovers at one of the farms, give them away to our members at our May meeting and might donate anything that's left to the plant sales of our local garden clubs.
