I’ve had really good experiences with the tubers I’ve gotten from Triple Wren, and I think the hybridizers program is, actually, a positive way to calm some of the tuber sales madness. But the whole “The Garden” thing rubs me the wrong way.

I agree I mean tuber sales are already stressful as it is. But they do have all the Paul Bloomquist ones so really just depends if its a "must grow" dahlia. $500 is a lot to pay for access. I feel most assume going into any tuber sale they will only get 1-2 on their wish list. It's how I have shopped the last 5 years.

The rooted cutting program will be interesting to see which 30 they offer and the scale. I do hope that stonehouse recovers think last year they only released 1 2023 intro of KA.

NCDahlia There is a new farm called Bloominghills Farm that is partnered with Paul Bloomquist’s son, Thomas, to grow new and existing Bloomquist varieties.

Stonehouse just announced by email they would be adding more KA’s to their sale next year.

BarryO I agree completely that the resources Triple Wren offers for the "Garden Club" do not fit my needs, except for "cutting to the front of the line" for dahlia sales. However, how do they pay for tissue culture and the dedicated commitment, infrastructure, and super hard work needed to grow virus free stock? If I had the choice between dahlias that are virus free or dahlias that are virus resistant, I'd pick resistant dahlias every time to grow in my unsterile outdoor garden.

Bessie I have been thinking a lot about this topic (virus free vs virus tolerant.) It is nice to hear someone else's thoughts.

Juliarugula I tried to order everything I might possibly want from them last year in the hopes that I wouldn’t feel the need to order again this year and thus avoid the associated shipping/phyto costs.

It kind of looks like from the updated Ferncliff shipping info website there’s now only a $25 add on to standard shipping rates to the US.

Bloominghills Farm has their upcoming sale varieties listed now. Sale in early December. Sounds like they have a goal to get one of all 440 BQs varieties! I love that!! This is where you will find Mr. Bloomquists new introductions going forward.

It is nice his son is starting up this farm. Paul has always had difficulties getting his varieties distributed. He has always been a prolific breeder and one year he entered 18 varieties in the Tacoma trial garden.

Eagle Dahlia Farm is open.
Dan’s still selling at pre-Covid prices. Most are $10 and under, with several at just $5!

I’m excited to see that Delightful Dahlias is listing Wyn’s Eeek! In their upcoming sale. I grew it this year and loved it so much! I’m glad to see it’s still out there in gardens other than just mine!

Some of my prettiest seedlings came from Wyn's NEW Pastel this year. I am planning to grow as many of the Wyn's dahlias as I can just to save seeds from...(Seeds f EEEK not included),. THis was one of the seedlings and I had several that did not have time to bloom but I saved the tubers of. I think I also had a yellow and a white that I liked and saved/
