So, even though Swan Island has a full fledged underground potato shed to store divided tubers, many of the varieties are only in there a for a month or two. Many spend more time in the other above ground warehouse in crates stacked upwards of twenty feet to the ceiling. It is said the humidity is very high in there and at times, the condensation from the ceiling is like rain. So does Swan Island store their tubers in whole clumps in a potato shed or do they store divided tubers in plastic vegetable crates with no storage medium and only some newspaper on the top and bottom of the crate? Both are right. They used to store in peat moss.
