Getting the photo party started with some oldy but goodies. I got a new camera for my birthday this year so can't wait to take more pictures this summer....

Teddahlia HH Monet is a very nice WL. I need to increase my stock to see if the florists like it as much as I do. She would sell very well in some cheery Spring bouquets.

My new cell phone was delivered today. Googlepix 10 PRO. I am expecting so many new features that I will only have to point it in the general direction of a flower and it will pose it like a show flower and write the name of the flower at bottom automatically. I wonder if I have high expectations? Meanwhile, I wait for a tech savvy son to open the box and get it up and going. My old phone is still working as a camera but phone calls are hit and miss and mostly miss.

I think this can be categorized as"artsy".
I have a horrid formed first year seedling, but it has an intriguing color. I crossed a few dahlias to it for experimentation. Based on @SteveM reports of poor seedlings from an open center seed parent, I expect failure.
For fun, today I asked Gemini AI to use the light peach color of the "horrid" seedling to "color" an image of second year seedling 24106... This is just more procrastinating.. I really should be outside cleaning up the yard.

Some colors are determined by the amount of pigment and much less pigment for example turns red to pink. If the base color of the flower has some yellow pigment and you add only a small amount of red, you may get light peach. Breeding for color is very complicated but actually if you breed two light peach flowers together, you may well get some light peach seedlings and knowing how it works chemically is rather irrelevant.

My 2001 picture of three dahlias. I borrowed Margaret's father's digital camera for this picture. Harlequin on lower left is probably extinct. Rolf and Sellwood Glory are still being grown but not in my garden.

Does the Dahlias of Today cover count as artsy? The colors glow. I know in bright sunlight this flower is probably yellow but I want to believe it is just like this photo.
