Rose Toscano has been outstanding this year, if I haven’t said so a dozen times already. I started with a few of my own tubers, backed up by cuttings, and also new tubers. I liked it last year but only had one plant. It’s a versatile color and size. The others pictured are Jessie G, (which is also outstanding in the heat,) Rock Run Ashley, Camano Zoe, Snoho Doris, Boom Boom White, and the first of my Bloomquist “Awesome.” So far, BQA is ok, but doesn’t appear to be different enough from Jessie G. Small World is in there too. It’s very yellow-green at this point.
On the left is Coseytown Babycakes, which has given me rather ugly blooms to start. The stems are knotty, if that makes sense. And the blooms themselves are just lacking in color and are dominated by the hard green center. It’ll be interesting to see how they all develop as we move into August. So far, I’m very pleased and I still have quite a few that haven’t bloomed yet!
