R. Mona: Since I had no memory of it, I googled for a picture. One of the very few pictures is mine and I do not remember it and we had gotten a batch of flowers from Canada several years ago
. In those days, we thought waterlilies were just another of the forms and not a creation that approaches perfection. It was a Canadian bred flower from I believe Ralph Hellens.
I must say that we have some really nice red waterlily seedlings in the works and we are not looking for more outside genes. We use a specialized beeding flower for seeds and it happens to be red. Red is a good color for breeding and the color of the seedlings has been red, dark red, white, yellow, dark yellow , orange, peach, and purple; but no bicolor or variegated. Picture of one that will be getting a name soon.
