KristinS Hi everyone! I just found this forum the other night when I was lying in bed at the Holiday Inn in Portland at the national show not able to sleep. đ I am a very small grower in Gig Harbor, WA and have been working on building a tuber sales business for the past few years. I did not want to just jump into sales and I am trying to make sure my plants are the best I can get them to be and that I can learn as much as I can before I share them. I also am very interested in breeding. This is my first year growing seedlings from seed I cross pollinated last summer.
Krista Hi KristinS, weâre so happy youâre here. Iâve been at the national show too this weekend, what fun itâs been! Iâm not too far from you, in Seattle. I canât wait to hear more about your breeding journey and business development, welcome!
calico20hill KristinS, I am glad to meet you! I was at the dahlia show too but the combination of too much walking on my injured ankle and the heat did me in. My friend / room-mate was going home today so I caught a ride home with her and will miss the last 2 days tours. I lived on VAshon Island, WA for 40 years give or take a few and moved down northwest of Portland 4 yers ago. I sure enjoyed the parts of the show and the tours that I was able to do! It will be fun chatting with you here.
KristinS calico20hill Nice to meet you too! One of my good friends lives on Vashon. I mostly went to the show for the seminars and to meet people. The flowers were gorgeous! I was disappointed I would miss Ron Minerâs discussion group this evening and I had really wanted to see Ted and Margaret Kennedyâs farm. I really enjoyed the breeders panel seminar and wish it had gone on twice as long! It was definitely a highlight for me. I love how kind and welcoming the dahlia community is.
AndreaB calico20hill Hey Kristin, welcome! Always nice to have another person to âtalk dahliasâ with.
KristinS Krista Thank you! Seattle is not far at all depending on traffic. đ The show was a lot of fun! I am glad I went. I am excited for next year!
